Contact # 1
Dave left behind not only his published work but also his unpublished work and journals which were and are a great comfort to us. We also considered his journal a source of contacts and leads in our search. While reading Dave’s journal, we called one of the contacts in his journal who then recommended we reach out to a psychic named Greta. It was now 1994 and by this time, the eerie silence around our brother’s disappearance was deafening. We were ready for this next step.
We packed up some of Dave’s belongings and sent them to the psychic Greta. We were then contacted by a representative of a TV show called American Journal. They wanted to tape the reading by Greta on national television. We were excited to get Dave’s picture on national TV. The reading although vague was very emotional. She seemed to imply that Dave had passed over to the other side and was now free.
Contact # 2
Following this, we visited a psychic medium from Utah, Karen Baldwin. We were careful not to mention a missing brother or lead her in anyway. this psychic accurately described Dave and then described his murder by two men. With nothing else to go on, we contacted this psychic again.
In a series of readings by Karen Baldwin, a story unfolded with more and more detail. She continued to described Dave in accurate detail and surprise us with details that could not possibly be guessed. She knew odd details about our family such as that when we were little our family used to wrap Christmas gifts with the Sunday newspaper comics. She told us that when Dave disappeared, he was traveling with a woman and had got into debt with two drug dealers. These two men took him to a secluded area and when he didn’t come up with the money they hit him in the back of the head. The psychic said this was a fatal blow near the pituitary gland. She described the area and nearby town in detail. She also provided Map quadrants and other clues which she thought could be Billings MT.
In a far reach, we called the billings police dept and asked about any cold cases or John Does. The call was transferred to a woman who had worked there for years. Expecting this woman to hang up on us, we described what was in the psychic tapes and the details and approximate date of the murder. The woman gasped “O my God we just got a deathbed confession to the murder you described.” In our own shock, we didn’t write down the name of the confessor and remembered the name as Russel Burton. Through our own search and investigation we found Gerald Burton and his death record which matched the dates by the Psychic Karen Baldwin
We were then contacted by a detective who confirmed the psychic’s story matched a case they had investigated as a result of a death bed confession. He told us on his deathbed, a known felon/drug-dealer confessed to his sister that he and another known felon took the victim fishing on the Musselshell River and when he didn’t have the money he owed them they killed him. The sister kept the deathbed confession to herself for 25 years at which time she revealed it to her nephew who then contacted the Billing Police. The police couldn’t give us many details in the event the case was to go to trial. They did say though that the details we provided them were compelling enough to re-open the case. The person working on the case was Gary Hatfield with the state police (since retired).
Contact # 3
Trying to establish validity for the psychic reading describing our brother’s murder, we found another psychic medium from England, Robert Brown, who is internationally known and we scheduled a reading with him while he was on tour in the United States. Again we were careful not to mention a missing brother or to lead him in anyway. He described not only Dave, his murder and the blow to the back of the head, he also described our oldest brother and his death. This was remarkable and we could not believe that after so many years of silence, we were getting identical stories from two different sources.

Unstoppable, we contacted another well known psychic medium from Long Island New York, Lynn LeClere and again revealing nothing to her we listened to her describe our brother and his death by a blow to the back of the head. She described his girlfriend at the time and that he was drinking heavily and got himself involved with the wrong crowd and was ultimately killed over drug money.
