For Information that leads to the identity of the victim of the Deathbed Confession!
In November 1979 Gerald Burton of Roundup MT. was dying of cancer when he confessed to a family member that he and Russel Plum took a guy fishing on the Musselshell River. The guy owed them money and when he didn't pay he was killed. In 2004 the family member finally told a relative who was a South Dakota policeman and he reported it to the Montana Division of Criminal Investigation then.
I have reason to believe that my brother David Bird Thomson could have been the victim of the murder. After June 1979 he worked for a few days in Casper WY. He was going to Chico Mt. to meet a friend. Some of the possible locations of the murder are Dead Man’s Basin, Martinsdale reservoir both on the Musselshell River west of Roundup Mt. The body could have been moved to another location later.
I am offering the reward to anyone for information that leads to identifying or locating the victim whoever he is. You can remain
anonymous. I will determine if the victim has been identified and will apportion payment where there is more than one claimant.
